My Lounge needs re-covering, so I am comparing the cost.
Lets face it; some lounges are just not built like they use to be. But some are. If your lounge has a nice strong hardwood frame, the springs or webbing is still in good order and the foams are still providing comfort, then it may be an idea to have the lounge re-covered.
A good quality upholsterer will be best to provide you with an honest answer as to the quality of your lounge. However, when it does come time to upholster a lounge, most people want a change not only in colours but also style.
The design of furniture has changed a lot in the past few years, and it may be a lot of money to cover an older style of furniture.
My Dining table is ok, but I need new chairs.
You may purchase chairs separately to dining tables. If you see a chair that you like, it is often the easiest way to buy. However it may also be the most expensive. Suppliers of dining furniture usually charge a premium for individual chairs. From a cost point of view, you may be better buying the setting and then selling your existing setting to cover costs.
Leather Furniture Care
- Keep it clean. Vacuum and dust often using a crevice tool in seams.
Though leather is resistant to fading, direct, prolonged exposure to the sun will cause any material to fade. Therefore, it is important to position your leather furniture away from windows, skylights or other intense light sources when possible. - Keep your leather furniture at least 12cms away from radiators and other intense heat generators to prevent drying and possible cracking.
- If spills do occur, attend to them quickly, blotting the stain rather than rubbing.
- Do not leave newspapers on leather furniture. The ink in the newsprint will rub onto the leather. This is true for all upholstery.
- Take extra care with sharp instruments and animal claws. Leather is much stronger than upholstery but will puncture with force, causing need for a difficult repair.
- Never use harsh cleaners, chemicals or saddle soaps as they may damage the finish. Before using any cleaner, test-clean on a hidden area.
- Depending on use, lighter colours may require more frequent maintenance than darker colours.
